Movie Overview

The English Patient is a 1996 sentimental show coordinated by Anthony Minghella from his own script in view of the novel of the same name by Michael Ondaatje and created by Saul Zaentz. In the last days of the Italian Campaign of World War II, Hana, a French-Canadian medical caretaker working and living in a bombarded Italian cloister, cares for a basically blazed man who communicates in English yet can’t recall his name. They are joined by Kip, a Sikh sapper in the British Army who defuses bombs and has an adoration illicit relationship with Hana before leaving, and David Caravaggio, a Canadian Intelligence Corps agent who was addressed by Germans and has had his thumbs cut off amid a German session. He doubts the patient, who steadily uncovers his past.

The patient tells Hana and Caravaggio that in the late 1930s he was investigating the desert of Libya. He is uncovered to be Hungarian cartographer Count László de Almásy, who was mapping the Sahara as a major aspect of a Royal Geographical Society archeological and studying campaign in Egypt and Libya with Englishman Peter Madox and others.
