A law breaker named Gergerman has been maintaining their organizations out and bugging the men and their families. The men hand over a couple of Gergerman’s shoes to the shoemaker, Pinchas Simkin. Pinchas takes the shoes to the storm cellar of his shop and uses an uncommon sewing machine to chip away at the shoes. His young child Herschel enters, and Pinchas discloses to him the significance of the machine.

In the present day, Max Simkin fills in as the shoemaker in the shop. His work neighbor is Jimmy, who works the hair parlor nearby. A young lady named Carmen Herrera comes into tell Max that she is working with the group of the Lower East Side to keep big time engineers from tearing down parts of the area to manufacture enormous complex structures.
